Shove it HSUS-Get Out of Oklahoma and Stay OUT!!!

I urge everyone to send letters in support of this bill, when the new legislation session begins, and help give HSUS (the Humane Society of the United States) the boot!!! I’ll be thanking Representative Dr. Brian Reneger dvm in advance!!!

Oklahoma Bill Seeks to Block HSUS Fundraising

HSUS has been facing setback in Oklahoma as the state’s attorney general, Scott Pruitt, opened an investigation into HSUS fundraising. Last year, one of Oklahoma’s U.S. Senators, Jim Inhofe, took HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle to task in front of a subcommittee. And now the legislature is getting involved in trying to stop the deception-for-dollars scheme that HSUS runs.

A new bill by Rep. Brian Renegar (who is also a veterinarian) would only allow animal groups to fundraise for programs conducted inside the state. That’s not a problem to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and other similar groups that shelter or rescue animals. But that is a problem if you’re HSUS, and you don’t run a single pet shelter in Oklahoma (or anywhere in the U.S., in fact).

You can read the full text of the bill, HB2250, here.

No doubt HSUS’s lawyers will be thinking of any way to claim this is unconstitutional. But the protestations will only highlight one thing: How much HSUS is benefitting at the expense of local animal groups in Oklahoma. The effort should be commended.

Bill Could Limit Fundraising for Animal Groups in Oklahoma

Quick facts:

A new bill could limit animal groups from posting commercials in Oklahoma.

The proposed bill would not allow groups that do not perform part of their operations in the state to fundraise there.

Oklahomans could see fewer commercials featuring abused and homeless animals accompanied by sad music if one Oklahoma lawmaker has his way.

Oklahoma State Representative Brian Renegar of McAlester filed a bill that would prohibit any animal rights and rescue groups from fundraising inside the Sooner State unless they perform at least part of their operations within the State of Oklahoma.

The bill does not list a penalty against an organization that fundraises in the state but does not conduct any operations there.

The bill will be considered by state lawmakers at the next legislative session.

Oklahoma Representative, Brian Renegar, is a veterinarian who wrote this bill. Will HSUS open an office and shelter in OK just for the tornado and quake money for animals…Animals it currently does not care for and a shelter it does not have? I truly doubt it.

  1. Actually, something like this should be on the books for ALL charities and solicitors of any kind. If you don’t have a presence here, don’t beg for money here. And that way nobody could say it’s discriminatory.

  2. HSUS does not run anything but commercials and ads begging for money. They help not 1 single animal. This in itself is outrageous. Not a fan or contributor to HSUS. In fact I don’t like them at all.

    • More lawmakers need to catch-up…Especially Ohio!!! HSUS is busy creating more laws to make more people not want to own any animal. There is no rash epidemic of people abusing animals-Just create laws or allow the judicial system to go beyond the law then you have a society of abusers-ALL BULLSHIT!!! Neighbor v Neighbor and using Rover.
