ZOO WARS-Arizona Primates Banned-The Accusers, Judge and Jury Created a BAD LAW!!!

Once again hitting my head against wall. How stupid does a person have to be to open mouth and insert foot after helping create and push for a bad law?!? [Fuck You Kellye Pinkleton AZ director for HSUS] Exposing their corruption…

Your grandfathered in of course IF you meet the criteria within the next 30 days-THIRTY DAYS-They likely haven’t even thought the whole thing thru yet -How long before Arizona builds a monkey jail and start wasting TaxPayer money on a law created to take animals from their rightful, legal longstanding owners!?! Seriously, aren’t there better reasons to waste TaxPayer money -Good grief!!!

Arizona has passed a new regulation that bans people from having primates as pets, and it took effect on Saturday.

The state Game and Fish Commission approved the policy, which makes future ownership of primates such as furry baboons, macaque monkeys, and Capuchin monkeys illegal. The Governor’s Regulatory Review Council recently approved the measure.

“Primates are highly social and intelligent animals, and private citizens are ill-equipped to provide for them sufficiently,” Kellye Pinkleton, Arizona state director for The Humane Society of the United States, said. “These animals belong in the wild and in accredited zoos, not someone’s backyard or basement.”

According to the Arizona Game and Fish Department, individuals who currently own primates are “grandfathered” in, which means they can continue to possess the animals under rule R12-4-425 (Restricted Live Wildlife Lawfully Possessed without License of Permit Before the Effective Date of Article 4 or Any Subsequent Amendments). However, they must tell the department the number of primates and species they possess, the purpose of the possession, and describe how the primate is uniquely and permanently marked for identification purposes. Owners must do all of that within 30 calendar days.

The rule does not affect research institutions, or people that have a special license, the department said.

Arizona is the 27th state to prohibit the private possession of dangerous primates.

from Arizona Game and Fish Department:

Updated rules governing live wildlife in Arizona to be effective Dec. 5

The Arizona Game and Fish Department, as part of its regular five-year review rulemaking process, has updated its Article 4 (Live Wildlife) rules. The new provisions will be effective Dec. 5, 2015.

The updated rules were recently approved by the Governor’s Regulatory Review Council.

The new provisions include some notable changes including:

  • Removal of hedgehogs from the restricted live wildlife list to allow them as pets.
  • Expansion of the restricted primate species that can be possessed by private individuals without a special license, to include all non-human primates in an effort to protect public health and safety.
  • Prohibiting a person from allowing native desert tortoises to reproduce in captivity in an effort to reduce the number of unwanted captive desert tortoises.
  • Improved consistency between federal and state rules, for example listing all birds under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act as restricted live wildlife.
  • Inclusion of red shiner, certain species of tilapia, paddlefish, sturgeon, Chinese mystery snail, and false dark mussel as restricted live wildlife as all are non-native to Arizona and pose significant threat to native species.
  • Clarification of definitions and language, consolidation of some rules, and updating of references.
