Ever Hear about the Federal Life Program-Do You KNOW What They REALLY DO!?!
I found out about this not too long back and made me sick!!! Even worse when they go after someone trying to protect and save a young dears life only for the authorities to step in to make sure that animal doesn’t have a chance for life!!! Canadian geese being slaughtered , ducks captured and yet they aren’t relocated as one would think; instead, slaughtered to be relocated to the grave.
Wayne Pacelle and HSUS has a plan of their own for population control that’s unacceptable and should not be considered with potential harm for the environment, the wildlife and people-The HSUS plan is not to provide a positive approach but instead to prevent hunting and the consumption of the meat.
2 Million Animals Killed by Federal Wildlife Program in 2013
Wildlife Services, the highly secretive arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), has released new data showing that the agency killed more than 2 million native animals during the last fiscal year.
The new numbers reveal a 29 percent increase in the program’s killing, up almost a half-million animals since fiscal year 2012, despite an increase in public awareness.
Wildlife Services target animals deemed as pests by powerful special interests groups from the agribusiness, hunting and livestock sectors, according to Center for Biological Diversity.
“Wildlife Services has long been out of step with the values of Americans, and the new figures make clear it has no interest in changing,” said Amy Atwood, a senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity, which petitioned to reform the program last December. “These appalling new numbers show that Wildlife Services is simply thumbing its nose at the growing number of Americans demanding an end to business as usual at Wildlife Services.”
The extensive list of the 2013 killings include, amongst many others:
- more than 320 gray wolves
- 75,326 coyotes
- 419 black bears
- 866 bobcats
- 528 river otters
- 3,706 foxes
- 12,186 black-tailed prairie dogs (as well as destroyed more than 30,000 dens)
- 3 golden eagles
Operating at the tax payer’s expense, the notoriously secretive Wildlife Services’ killings often include non-targeted species, and insiders allege that the program actually kills many more animals than it reports.
The covert killings—which includes aerial gunning, traps and exploding poison caps—has gone on for decades with little oversight and according the Center for Biological Diversity, the agency has killed more than 26 million native animals since 1996.
“Rather than dialing back in the face of criticism, the program that has the nerve to call itself ‘Wildlife Services’ seems to be putting its foot on the pedal in its systematic slaughter of America’s wild animals,” said Atwood. “These numbers pull back the veil on a staggering killing campaign, bankrolled by taxpayers, that’s happening every day beyond the view of most Americans.”
In December 2013, along with Project Coyote, Animal Welfare Institute and Animal Legal Defense Fund, the Center for Biological Diversity launched a petition calling for new rules and an immediate reform of the agency. Also in December, Predator Defense came out with a documentary featuring former federal agents-turned-whistle-blowers who exposed the Wildlife Services for being an unaccountable, out of control, wildlife killing machine that acts at the bidding of corporate agriculture and the hunting lobby. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack responded to the groups in January, stating that he would look into the issues they raised.
Sometimes the Animal Rights Extremists and people concerned for Animal Welfare (Advocates) met in the middle and on the same side of the railroad tracks and this is one of those issues. However, the plans set out by Wayne Pacelle of HSUS are totally UN-acceptable. Rather than allow proper conservation where proper control of animals would be hunting and feeding people they prefer to advocate birth control by the use of birth control drugs. The results of which could be catastrophic!

HSUS Invading the Environment
Is HSUS Bad for the Environment?
The US has 100 times more deer today than it did 100 years ago. That’s a good thing, whether you like wildlife watching or enjoy venison, but it has brought challenges, such as deer-car collisions, which damage property and can even kill people. But another challenge is environmental.
All those deer eat vegetation—3,000 pounds a year per animal. This can have a detrimental effect on the flora, as Al Cambrone writes in The Wall Street Journal, and the fauna—more deer means fewer songbirds.
What to do about the exploding deer population? Wildlife expert Jim Sterba details in his book “Nature Wars” how wildlife management draws the concerns of many different parties, and even draws odd political alliances, as localities try to figure out what to do. Bow hunting and private sharpshooters are two options, with the meat being donated to local food banks, though killing deer certainly has detractors. Instead of complaining, though, they do offer an alternative.
Animal rights groups ideologically opposed to hunting, such as the Humane Society of the United States, have proposed deer “birth control” as a “humane” means of dealing with deer overpopulation. Cambrone, however, points out the impracticality of HSUS’s preferred (and seemingly only) way of managing deer:
Some environmentalists, especially in urban areas, oppose hunting to cull the herds and argue instead for deer “birth control.” Yet contrary to persistent urban legend, there’s no handy oral deer contraceptive we can slip into a pile of acorns. Nor is there a permanent contraceptive that can be delivered with a single shot from a dart gun. Currently available immunocontraceptive agents have no effect on 10%-15% of the treated does. Even when they’re effective the first year, booster shots are needed in subsequent years.
Then, too, it’s difficult to inject enough does in a large, free-roaming population—and more difficult still to inject each one repeatedly, right on schedule. Even if we could, all those deer would still be present for years—still eating, still wandering out into traffic, and every day welcoming their fertile new friends arriving from nearby. The most optimistic cost estimates for each injection are around $500 per deer. Even surgical sterilization has been tried in a few locales. Although it costs over $1,000 per deer, it is 100% reliable and permanent.
That’s a significant cost to taxpayers. In D.C.’s Rock Creek Park, for instance, HSUS wanted taxpayers to foot half the bill of deer birth control to the tune of $340,000. (The National Park Service was against HSUS’s proposal.) HSUS offered to chip in the other half, but for a group with $20 million-plus in Caribbean hedge funds, HSUS really should have offered to fund the whole experiment.
That’s just one park in one city. Imagine HSUS’s proposal for 30 million deer, and you get the idea why these proposals sound great, and may well work in isolated spots like islands or fenced-in areas, but can’t be taken seriously as national or local policy. Just ask the folks in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY—they’ve managed to tag only 8 deer. Consider the deer, but also consider the deer’s effects on flora and fauna.
Doesn’t make sense to give the deer birth control just to stop people from hunting and eating them which is actually the goal here. But then again the new requirement for egg production and birthing pigs coming from an EXTREMIST NFP organization working it’s way into state and federal government to control animal usage doesn’t either. None of the HSUS methods of control should be up for consideration without scientific information to back it up.
If you wanted someone to train your dog for you would you ask someone who has never owned a dog and will base his training on what h gets of the Internet?!? Of course not…The legislature all around the country are bought and paid additionally by lobbyist from HSS, PETA< ASPCA< and other extremists organizations…again doesn’t make much considering that the taxpayer put them in office to begin with and pays the bulk of his salary…Legislatures are elected to protect US citizens-not animals-HELLO!!!
Why isn’t anyone considering that the climate change that effects us will effect the wildlife. We need that wildlife and has been controlled through good solid conservation for years that changes with the need by the population of these animals. I have yet to meet a hunter who wouldn’t like to be able to take more than he’s currently allowed-simple basic economics can easily control the population of these animals-GIVE ME A BREAK!!!
Agenda 21 gave rights to these extremist organizations, Maurice Strong is a board member of HSUS-The impossible becomes possible!!!
