PEOPLE PROTECTION LAW ENACTED

Los Angeles passed the controversial law requiring every dog within the city limits to be sterilized, micro chipped, and registered with city authorities.

Special permits will be required in order to own “potentially dangerous dogs” such as Rottweilers, Mastiffs, and Pit Bulls. Exemption permits will be costly, thereby discouraging ownership and/or generating significant income for the municipal treasury.

Los Angeles City Council has issued a public statement warning owners of dogs deemed by appearance to be pit bulls or “pit bull mix.” Such animals will be confiscated by Animal Control and disposed of, citing Denver’s 2005 success in ridding the city of dangerous dogs.

While no cat breeds are on the “dangerous” cat list, every other aspect of the People Protection Law will be enforced, with the exception of requiring cats to be leashed in public.

New York City, Detroit, Chicago, and other cash-strapped cities are watching this law closely, anticipating $millions in extra revenue generated by permit fees and fines ranging from $100 to $5,000.

Dog owners are outraged. Dog clubs say the law violates citizen rights guaranteed under the Constitution. Clubs are organizing protest marches.

Veterinary groups just released a statement in which they stipulate that they will not be able to perform millions of surgical sterilizations no matter how much they charge. They have asked the city to grant them authority to offer special permit waiting list forms (price to be determined) to pet owner clients.

Los Angeles City Council has agreed, with the stipulation only licensed veterinarians will be authorized to issue the Waiting List Temporary Exemption (WLTE) and under no circumstances will any Rottweiler, Mastiff, or Pit Bull dog breeder be given a WLTE.

THIS JUST IN – New York City Council has passed a version of The People Protection Law but with the explicit stipulation that any person who has bred, registered, or advertised any litter of any mammalian species will not be eligible for WLTE at any price and all of their animals must immediately be surgically neutered.

In addition, the NYC Mayor’s office added that a certificate issued by a state licensed vet must be presented upon premises inspection.

Premises Inspection To Insure Compliance of anyone suspected of operating a Kennel, now or in the past, will be instituted. PIICK will insure continued participation of such persons or business entities within the City and all surrounding boroughs.

Animal Rights organizations such as HSUS and PETA may offer experienced inspection personnel to assist “the city” in enforcing the new public safety law, cost to be determined.

Los Angeles is expected to explore this expedient adjutant to effective enforcement.

TheDogPress reporters are in contact with other major cities including Atlanta, Kansas City, and Albuquerque, all of which have cited dangerous dog breed issues. These metropolitan areas include Louisville which passed landmark city legislation in 2006.

OK, you can sigh with relief.  None of this is true, not yet.  Not to worry you but this news story was generated by the following Fox News report on May 15th and it is no joking matter…

  1. I’m sure this act has the full backing of HSUS and all the “animal rights” groups! It’s common knowledge that this would be right in line with their goals and agenda.

    • Right in line?!? It’s already happening to Private Exotic Animal Owners all over the country and what owners are fighting in Ohio, Michael Sandlin in Louisiana…No one is really paying attention because thy believe the bullshit of public safety…Connecticut says horses are inherently dangerous-Houston SPCA killing off any animal remotely resembling a pit bull dog-Frustrated that animals don’t have rights they will go in any direction possible including laws and harmful procedures against animals that the Animal Rights Extremists claim to be protecting.
