“Why would anyone want to wipe these off our planet by banning them in Captivity” -Joe Exotic

I stand against the amendment to further limit contact with exotic animals at any age. It is my sincere hope that the USDA, APHIS does not cave into the Animal Rights Agenda to take these animals away from responsible private owners and stands up to this attempt to discriminate against the people who love and care for these animals.

The petitioner’s of this proposed amendment have a specific agenda to bankrupt and force responsible private owners, exhibitors, circuses, breeders, and zoos not in their “circle” out of business. Robbing the public of any opportunity to learn and have contact with these majestic creatures up close and personal.

Should our children and the generations to follow be forced to see these animals in books or AZA accredited Zoos only? Should the public be denied the opportunity to own, exhibit, or breed one of these animals even if they follow the responsible rules and regulations that have already been established? We should be allowed to interact with an endangered species, and hopefully go on to help preserve the species rather than let it be wiped out.

There is nothing wrong with rules and regulations to protect exotic animals from being abused and there is nothing wrong with rules and regulations to protect the public at large from being injured by these animals. However, to BAN interaction with these animals altogether is wrong and extreme. It is the interaction with these animals that secures their survival as they become extinct in the wild. Captive animals may soon be all that we have and public interaction and educational contact will be of up most importance to secure their future survival. There is no evidence that human contact with these animals is a detriment to them or to the public if the existing rules and regulations of the USDA are adhered to. There is no factual evidence that these animals should not be kept as pets and that some people can be responsible providers of love & care for these animals.
