Not All Lawmakers are Fooled!!!

What’s this?!? A lawmaker stating that animals are owned property, and defines animal rights?!?

(Springfield, MO) — Animals are on the mind of at least one state lawmaker tonight.

Representative Ward Franz (R-West Plains) has co-sponsored a bill (HB 1513) that better defines animal rights.

Rep. Franz’s bill states that no animal shall have any right, privilege, or legal status that is equal to or greater than any right, privilege or legal status of a human being.

“It’s kind of crazy that we’ve reached this point in our society that we have to have this discussion, but looking at what groups have done around the country like PETA and the Humane Society of the United States, and what they’re doing in other states and what we’ve dealt with this past year with Proposition B, and it felt like we needed to be a little more proactive to protect our number one revenue producer in the state which is agriculture.”

Rep. Franz is sponsoring the bill because he feels PETA and the Humane Society of the United States are trying to attack the rights of animal owners.

“They’ve even been quoted as saying a dog is certainly at the same level, IQ-wise, as an infant, so why wouldn’t we give them the same rights?” asks Dr. Beth Walker with Missouri State University. “That’s some of what HSUS and PETA are promoting.”

“The last thing we want to see is an animal hurt,” adds Rep. Franz. “We have to protect what we do now, which is raising cattle and producing these for consumption.”

KOLR/KOZL contacted the Humane Society of the United States. It had no comment on the proposed legislation.

As this time, there are no hearings for the proposed bill. Rep. Franz hopes the bill will be in committee in the next couple of weeks.

At least someone is making sence these days with everyone so quick to jump on the bandwagon to agree with H$U$…KUDOS to Pep Franz
